Troy resides in the Roxbury section of Boston. He has traveled and lived abroad but his heart has never left the city of Boston. He has been 100 percent committed to uplifting the quality of life for all persons; primarily within the City of Boston and surrounding communities. His life goal and pledge to Human Service has been transmitted in multiple ways. Over the past 20 plus years and concurrently, Troy has aspired educationally, professionally, and spiritually to “give back” and build his community. Troy has made it his life’s journey to embark relentlessly on building Youth and Senior Programs, community partnerships along with providing spiritual leadership and guidance to those within the community and City of Boston.
While encouraging a young person to never give up on her dreams and to complete her education Troy was a victim of the violence which is tearing our city apart. Troy was grazed in the forehead and shot in the upper right thigh. All while waiting for a tire to be fixed at a local business and speaking with the female teen.
In Troy’s dedication to Human and Community Service and Youth Development, he has worked as a substitute teacher (Madison Park Vocational High School), Head and Assistant Coach/Women’s Basketball and Softball (Fisher College, Boston Massachusetts),Assistant Director Operations of Boys & Girls Clubs Boston, Assistant Director and Site Director at Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) Perkins (Lee School), Tobin, Madison Park, and Roche Community Centers, and Executive Director of Anthony D.Perkins Community Center Council, Inc., in Dorchester, Massachusetts. During Troy’s tenure, he has developed and implemented Programs. Established and monitored city wide committees and partnerships. Maintained and supervised staff and the day-to-day operations, ensuring policies and procedures. Provided technical assistance, budgeting, and grant writing. Troy has been instrumental in arranging partnerships to help Council Boards, with a broad base of local and statewide, non-profit, and corporate organizations.
Troy has sat on the Board of Directors for Boston Public Lee Pilot School (2008-2011). He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Collaborative Education with South Africans Initiative (1992-2007); New England State Director of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (1995-2003) and has volunteered to feed the homeless by serving hot meals, thus establishing the Men’s Breakfast Club. Troy has taught music lessons in his earlier years as part of his youth ministry. He was also a patient transporter at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and a page for the late State Representative Kevin Fitzgerald of Massachusetts.Troy is an active and financial Life Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. as a member of Phi Beta Sigma. As New England State Director and Eastern Regional Director of Education Troy was able to obtain books and financial donations for elementary, middle,and high school students. He has maintained a consistent commitment to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Troy is a charter member of Omicron Chi Sigma Chapter, provides guidance and teaches the principles of Education,Social Action and Bigger Better Business to young men ages (6 -18), within the community. Troy is also an active member of Mount Zion Lodge No. 15 of Prince Hall Grand Lodge Masons of Boston, Massachusetts. Staying true to his calling Troy has served as the Scholarship Chairman and Treasurer. Troy has provided educational support groups as well as writing workshops for middle and high school students. Troy is Treasurer of the Men of Zion Charitable Foundation, which provides Scholarships to students furthering their education. He continues to support the programs of his lodge which have been supportive and uplifting to the community of Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and City of Boston. Troy oversees the daily operations of the Church and Board of Directors.
Troy is constantly in “What More Can I Do?” mode, and never loses sight of his Human and Community Service goal. Troy has the stamina and will to continue his calling, while he develops relationships with people of the Community. He makes himself available and has adhered to an “open door” policy for those in need or just to “talk”.Troy desires to take these skills and passion to represent the 7th Suffolk District as the next State Representative. I am passionate about Education, Seniors, Public Safety, Small Businesses, Home Ownership, Health, and Mental Wellness. All these concerns are important to our future.
